Clayton hotels are a collection of distinctive hotels in key locations across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The London branch is centrally located in Zone 1, less than two minutes' walk from Aldgate East tube station. This provides direct tube access to popular tourist spots like the Tower of London and Borough Market, as well as central rail stations like King's Cross, London Victoria and Paddington.
If you know London, you know how important being so central is! We loved how we could get to just about anywhere within 30 minutes, which is key when you're only in London for a short time.
If you're working in London, this hotel is perfectly located just outside the Square Mile, so you're not too far off from the offices either!
One of our travel goals for 2023 and beyond was to make more environmentally conscious travel choices, and that includes the kind of properties we stay at. We chose Clayton Hotels for their commitment to sustainability. They have partnered with Green Tourism, a hospitality specialist environment accreditation partner, who has carried out Energy & Sustainability Audits in all their hotels.
And over 80% of their hotels have achieved the Gold Award in their recent re-accreditation!
The hotel's globe bar offers plenty of co-working space, ideally suited for remote work, focus time or the odd zoom call. The restaurant offers refreshments all day, so tea and coffee is always on hand to see you through the day. The property gives off a very trendy vibe from the moment you step in, with a very artsy décor throughout the reception, bar area, through to the rooms.
The property offers guest rooms over ten floors, with most of the suites located on the top floor. The rooms are spacious for central London standards, with the junior suites also offering a comfortable couch and workspace in addition to a king-size bed - all in a bespoke Victorian-inspired design. The ensuite bathroom was also very spacious, having three separate areas for the toilet, washbasin and showing room (with both a bathtub and rain shower).

Lush super soft dressing gowns (which we seriously considered purchasing - they were that soft!)
The addition of Rituals products throughout the bathroom, which was an unexpected and luxurious finishing touch!
Blackout curtains allowing for a lovely Sunday morning lie in, which you know we 1000% took advantage of!
Breakfast is served in the restaurant every morning and it was delicious! The pork sausages in particular were a hit with Michael :) Breakfast is served until 10am and the breakfast buffet is full of dishes you'd expect in a traditional English breakfast.
And as a bonus, we could also order freshly made eggs or waffles from the kitchen! You know we had to try them!
While we did not check it out, the hotel also has a gym available for those who want to keep fit during their stay.
If you’re looking for the perfect city break, whether business or pleasure, this hotel delivers on all fronts. Thanks to the newly launched Elizabeth Line, we were in Heathrow in just 40 minutes! We loved the relaxing atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and delicious breakfast. We'll definitely be back!
