Best photo spots in Santorini

Updated: Nov 23, 2021

I'll say it - Santorini is TOTALLY WORTH all the hype it gets.

Two years ago my parents were in Greece and invited me to join them at Santorini. I couldn't take time off work so I had to decline the offer, but I was pretty gutted as Santorini was on my list for the longest time. I mean - literally every travel blogger has that iconic picture in front of a blue and white dome. You know the one I'm talking about.

But we finally made it for my birthday weekend!

PRO TIP: For first time visitors, stay at Oia. It might be a little more expensive, but that's where you will want to be - outdoor pools with jaw-dropping views of the caldera, great little restaurants with the freshest seafood, and direct access to the bay below.

BEST PHOTO SPOTS IN OIA:

Unlike many other places, Oia's best photo spots are actually really easy to find. The whole town has so many alleyways that all you need to do is wander for five minutes and you'll find yourself in a cute corner.

For the best pictures of the caldera, you cannot go wrong from picking a hotel on the caldera. Most hotels come with either a private pool or an outdoor hot tub that can be used to soak up those sunset views in privacy. If not, you will be joining a million other tourists fighting for a piece of the wall to call their own (I kid you not - we overheard a woman talking about how she's been at the wall since 5pm. Sunset was at 6:44pm! AND ITS HOT.)

For the best pictures of the sunset, try Oia Castle or Amoudi Bay, which gives you the hues against the backdrop of the gorgeous Oia buildings.

While Oia has epic views from every angle, don’t forget to look at the details that make this town so charming - every building and door is unique and makes for some gorgeous photos.
